Sandy has been a Registered Nurse for 26 years and earned her Masters Degree of Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner from Spring Arbor University in 2021. She is board certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).
She is a member of the AANP and the Preventive Cardiovascular Nurses Association. She is licensed to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in Tennessee and Colorado.
Sandy has received training in functional medicine and bioidentical hormone replacement through advanced courses offered by Precision Analytics, Rupa Health, the School for Applied Functional Medicine, the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine (A4M), and the Institute for Functional Medicine. She also interned for a year at Thrive Health and Wellness in Nolensville, TN in functional medicine and family practice. Sandy received her cosmetic botulinum toxin A and dermal filler certification from Aesthetics Medical Training (AMET) and has taken additional ongoing training to hone her skills.
Sandy spent over 10 years battling a number of health issues related to an undefined autoimmune condition. She experienced digestive issues, weight issues, depression, anxiety, joint pain, chronic headaches, chronic fatigue, and issues with arm and leg numbness and tingling. Following COVID-19 infection, she developed long-hauler syndrome including the onset of dysautonomia (POTS) and worsening of her chronic fatigue. The frustration of seeing numerous providers without getting any answers or relief sent her on a journey into the integrative health/functional medicine world where she found answers. Once she knew there was hope out there, she knew that she couldn't just practice conventional medicine anymore. After going through menopause at age 47 (naturally, not due to surgery), she also understands the challenges and symptoms that come with hormone changes and how those can impact your life and relationships. She applies the best practices of traditional medicine in conjunction with a functional medicine approach to find and address the root cause of health issues. She partners with clients to customize a plan specific to their needs and meets them where they are in a way that is realistic and achievable.
Sandy has been married to her husband Geoff for 20 years, and they have a 4-legged fur-child, a Pitbull named Bella (her nickname is Hurricane Bella and she has earned that title!). They moved to Tennessee from Michigan in 2003. When she is not working, Sandy loves to dance, read, cook, and crochet. She gardens in the summer growing organic vegetables. Together, Sandy and Geoff love to travel, try new restaurants, attend the Nashville Symphony and other concerts, and attend racing events for Formula 1 and IndyCar.
